Why can't he always sleep like this?

So here I am, it's 2:00 a.m.  I've been sitting here for 20 minutes waiting for Isaiah to fall back asleep.  He isn't crying in his crib, just talking to himself.  Just 2 weeks ago he started sleeping from 9:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m.  He did this pretty much for the last 2 weeks and I was starting to get used to it!  Now all of a sudden he has decided to revert back to waking up around midnight/1:00 a.m. again.  (I think he may actually be asleep now!  It's awfully quiet on the monitor.)  Anyway, it's really rough because I've started back to work.  Before I went back to work, it wasn't a big deal.  I got to sleep in a little bit if I was up all night and sometimes I could squeeze in  a short nap.  Not now... See, it's 2:00 a.m. and in just 3 short hours I have to get up to get ready for work.  Plus he will probably wake up now around 4:00 a.m. to possibly eat again.  Even if Tim feeds him, it will still wake me up.  I'm glad this week is only a two day week for me at work.  I'm not sure if I could function through a whole week.  It's no wonder I'm falling asleep on the couch at 7:00 p.m. every night.  I need that nap to even make it through the night without going completely insane!

Working mom.....

This week was my first week back to work.  I knew I was going to be busy, but I had no idea how busy and tired I would end up being!  It didn't help that on my first day back I was called in to the principal's office for a not so pleasant meeting.  Then Tuesday night I had to stay until 8:00 p.m. for professional development.  The rest of my week was pretty uneventful, but it sure seemed like the longest week ever!  I thought I would be okay when I dropped Isaiah off at Becky's on Monday morning.  I never thought I would cry.  But he got the biggest "boo boo" face when I went to kiss him good-bye. It was really pitiful, he stuck out his lower lip and everything!  I had to hold him again and I couldn't help from crying, too.  Thankfully Becky took our picture before I cried.....  I'm glad that I leave a camera in my diaper bag.  Becky has done a good job of taking plenty of pictures while I'm at work.  It really helps me feel like I'm not missing out on what's going on during his day.

Isaiah's funny face

Just recently I discovered a very funny face that Isaiah makes.  I was babysitting Evan last Friday and he is the one that caused the funny face first.  Evan knows how to turn his light in his bedroom on and off.  I was sitting in Evan's rocking chair feeding Isaiah and Evan decided he wanted to turn his light on and off, on and off, on and off.... you get the picture.  Anyway, every time Evan would turn off the light Isaiah's eyes would get really big, like the picture to the right here.  When the light would come back on his eyes would return to normal.  It was pretty hilarious!  So for fun, at Katherine's house today we decided to try it out and see if we could get him to make the face again.  Sure enough, as soon as the light was turned out his eyes got real big. 
When we turned the light back on, they went back to normal, like the picture to the right. So I guess you could say I'm a little bit of a mean mommy because I kept turning the light on and off so we could get some funny pictures!  Oh well, I'm sure he won't remember or be scarred for life.  But I guess when he's older I'll get to tell him all about his funny little face and how we would torture him by turning the light on and off just so we could laugh at him!  But seriously, it is so stinking cute that I just can't resist!

The Quality of Sleep

Now usually it is the other way around, I'm waiting for Isaiah to fall asleep!  He was so tired tonight (and so was I) that I put him down for his nap around 7:00 p.m.  I was expecting him to wake up around 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. to eat, but I was tired so I went to bed.  He started making some noise at 11:00 p.m. but did not really wake up.  I'm awake now, though, and have been for about 30 minutes.  I'm debating on whether I should wake him up or just let him sleep, except I'm sort of ready to be back in bed sleeping myself.  Especially because I know Tim will get the next feeding and I'll probably get to sleep until 5:00 or 6:00 a.m.!  Anyone who has had an infant will understand my dilemma!  I hate to wake him up, especially because I'm afraid he may not go back to sleep or he may not wake up enough to actually eat.  He is such a sweet little man when he is asleep.  What to do!

More Trouble Than They Are Worth... Sometimes

At this point in my life I'm questioning whether it's worth it to have pets anymore, especially the dogs.  For the past two days our male dog, Kenobi, has discovered how to get out of our yard.  He's about the same age Trinity was when she learned that it was more fun out of the yard than in it.  It has been quite a hassle.  Tim just got back from Petsmart where he was able to exchange Kenobi's shock collar, that has not been working, for one that is working.  Tim and I are about to the point of asking around if anyone wants to adopt two huskies!  They are good dogs for the most part, but with Isaiah in the picture it has become too much to deal with.  They are already outside a lot more than they used to be, and they don't seem to mind.  I've come to the conclusion that my house would stay a whole lot cleaner if they were outside all the time.  Of course, Tim feels his back yard would look a lot nicer if they were inside more of the time!  Back to the house, though.  I would not have to constantly be picking dog fur off of my clothes, Isaiah's clothes and even his pacifiers.  We wouldn't have to worry about wondering whether they have figured a way out of the yard while we are gone.  When we want to take a quick weekend trip out of town we wouldn't have to find someone to dog sit for us (Katherine!) or pay to board them when a dog sitter is not available.  It would certainly be cheaper to not have to feed two big dogs, pay for their shots, and keep control of ticks and fleas.  But while all of those things are a hassle, we love our dogs.  Before Isaiah came along they were like our kids.  We love them, and they love us, I suppose.  I just don't know if we could give them away, we have become quite attached.  So even though we complain about the hassle, they are part of our family, like it or not!

Hhhmmmm....

I'm new to this whole blogging thing, but I thought I would give it a try!  I read my friend Kelly's today and thought it was a pretty cool idea.  I don't really have all that much to say , but I use to journal all the time before I got married.  The way I figure, this is like an online journal that other people get to read... scary!  I don't consider myself to be a deep thinker and I'm certainly not philosophical, but occasionally I suppose I might have something worth writing about.  I've come upon a new season in my life with becoming a mom.  So what better way to begin this new season than to try something new!
